Fushimi Inari Taisha Shrine was founded by the Hata clan in the 8th century and originally dedicated to the god of agriculture.
With industrialization after World War the shrine gradually came to be worshiped to ensure prosperity in business enterprises.
The shrine is famous world wide for vermilion shrine gates.
The magical seemingly unending path of over 10,000 Torii gates that wind thrugh the hills always attract visitors from all over the world.
Approximately 10 million people come to the shrine in a year.
We have a custome to visit at shrines or temples in January to pray for the good health and happiness in the year.
At Fushimi Inari Taisha Shrine, amazingly about 2.5 million people visit in the first 3 days of January.

The gates are painted orange and the color symbolizes te power if te god for harvest and also it keeps the evil away.
The vermilion is made from the material called "Tan" and it is used for wood preservation so it prevents from having wood damaged.
The shrine features a lot of statues of foxes. The fox is seen as the messanger of the god of grain foods, Inari and the stone foxes are often known by the same name.
Fushimi Inari Taisha Shrine is the head shrine of 30,000 inari shrines throughout the entirely of Japan.
