Arashiyama, in the western outskirts of Kyoto has been very popular in the tourist spots in Kyoto
It takes only 20 minutes from main train stations in the centre of the city and the area offers you not only touristy places, you can also enjoy a lot of greenery such as the famous bamboo groves and mountains.
The scenery is remarkably beautiful especially during the seasons for cherry blossoms and autumen leaves.
If you like shopping, enjoy strolling around the area.
There are a lot of shops and restaurants. The shops offer a wide variety of goods such as traditional art crafts,Japanese sweets and local specialities.
Here is a sample itinerary for the Arashiama Walking Tour.
・Take a cute Randen train to Arashiyama.
・Visit Tenryu-ji Temple, a UNESCO Wrold Heritage Site with marvelous and one of the best gardens in Japan
・Walk through famous Arashiyama Bamboo forest, take a selfie and post it on facebook or instagram!
・Enjoy the Arashiyama park in lush greenery and see the beautiful scenery from the top of the hill
・Stroll along the Katsura River and cross the Togetsu Bridge which is Arashiyama's well known, central landmark
・Have an enjoyable time with lovely monkeys at Arashiyama Monkey Park Iwatayama. You can feed them and see at close range
・Enjoy great Japanese local lunch, Teishoku(set meal), Soba and Udon noddles
・Look around the handcraft and suvenior shops offering a wide variety of goods made from local materials
