In the Higashiyama area, you can feel true Kyoto atomosphere and see the traditional style buildings. The area is famous for traditional Maiko and Geiko area. The culturally rich area gives you a great experience.
This tour will provide you insight on Japanese religion, architecture, arts, gardens, food and traditional & modern as well, ways of life.
Here is a sample itinerary for the Higashiyama Highlights Tour.
・Meet at your accommodation and take a train/bus to Shimogamo Shrine
・Walk through a quiet and lush green forest called "Tadasu-no Mori" and spend a peaceful time
・Make a wish at the shrine designated the world heritage site and learn about Shinto religion
・Walk around Gion district, traditonal Maiko and Geiko district where a beautiful small river lines with willow trees
・We enjoy lunch at local restaurant. Some popular choices are Okonomi-yaki, Ramen and Sushi
・Visit the oldest Zen temple in Kyoto, Kennin-ji Temple. Enjoy zen gardens and learn about Buddhism
・Experience a tea ceremony and learn about the tea at a tea house near Kiyomizu-dera Temple
